As we enter a new year, many are thinking about how to improve their lives.

Some people may want to enhance their health or habits, while others might want career changes, a new relationship, or financial success.

One of the most important things you can do to create the change you want is to rewire your mind. If you're not happy with where you are in life, then start thinking about what it will take for you to get there. Within this article I share the top 5 things that have helped me to shift my mindset, providing you with ideas you can implement right away to do so for yourself, too!

Your Mindset’s Impact On Creating Your Reality

You may be one of those people who believe that if you can just get through the hard times or make it to some point in time, then things will get better.

But does it ever work out that way?

Nope, because what you carry in your mind, gets projected out onto the world around you. You tend to perceive things based on what you already think you know rather than what is actually real in the present moment. These perceptions determine your outcomes–how you feel, behave, or respond. 

This is important phenomena! 

By changing your perceptions, thoughts, and interpretations you gain control over your experiences and thus start creating a reality you want.

Fortunately, you have the ability to change and rewire your thoughts and emotions for the better. And with 365 days in a calendar year you have 365 opportunities each year to improve your mindset, free yourself from the past, and magically manifest the life what you want.

5 Ways To Begin Shifting Your Mindset

Making change happen in your subconscious is the first step towards changing your life and taking small daily actions is a great next step.

Here are some of the things that helped me:

Meditate daily

You have to expand your self awareness and strengthen the neural pathways for what you do want, if you want to create positive change. Set aside some time each morning (10-20 minutes) to meditate. Question everything

This can be hard to do on your own, because it involves questioning everything you know along with every thought and emotion that comes up. Remember your thoughts and feelings are mostly based on the past and not what's happening in the moment. You may feel like you’re fighting against yourself on this one, but if you want to make real progress with your life, it’s a battle worth fighting. It’s a humbling practice! Stay open and curious as you do this!

Practice new skills + experiences

New experiences enhance our brain’s ability to change. This could be as simple as taking new routes to work, using your non dominant hand, learning a new language, doing a crossword puzzle, or playing an instrument. This can also open the door to new perspectives and behavioral change.

Pay attention to the positive

Your mind will amplify what you focus on. When you celebrate wins, acknowledge positive shifts, and practice gratitude you strengthen the neural pathways that make you happier, healthier, and more resilient.

Move your body

Physical activity is directly linked to healthy neuroplasticity and it’s a great way to release stress, move energy, clear emotions, and get out of your head. There are so many ways to move your body so listen to your body’s needs as you decide what you need and for how long. Some days you may want to challenge yourself and other times a more gentle practice may be beneficial. Listen to your body.

Conclusion:

Changing your mindset does take work and practice, but the more frequently you do it the easier it becomes. Repetition and consistency are key to making new habits stick– this is where they will feel more natural and effortless.
